Why households choose Threadkin

We bring steady, careful attention to records that carry personal and family meaning. Here is what that looks like in practice.

Household-led at every step

You decide what is kept, how it is labeled, and who sees what. We follow your lead — nothing is moved or set aside without your direction.

Archival-quality materials

Every session includes folders, dividers, and labeling materials sourced for long-term storage — the same materials used in document preservation.

Small team, consistent staff

You work with the same people across every session. Familiar faces mean a more comfortable pace and better continuity when returning to ongoing projects.

Strict document privacy

We do not photograph, copy, or retain images of any document unless you explicitly ask us to for reference purposes. Your records stay within your household.

Unhurried, structured pace

Sessions are planned around the household's rhythm — not around speed. We build time for questions, recollections, and decisions along the way.

We come to you

All sessions take place in your home. There is no need to transport fragile or bulky materials — we work with records in the space where they already live.

Ready to bring order to your family records?

Tell us a little about your household's papers and we'll suggest the right place to start. No paperwork before the paperwork — just a conversation.

Questions we often hear

A few things households ask before booking their first session.

What kinds of documents does the team typically work with?
Household photographs, printed letters and correspondence, birth and marriage certificates, property papers, school records, diaries, receipts and ledgers, newspaper clippings — anything a household accumulates over decades. We work with whatever is there, in whatever condition it is in.
Do you take anything away from the household?
No. All documents remain in the household at the end of every session. We do not remove, photograph, or retain copies of any papers. The archival materials we bring — folders, dividers, labels — stay with you.
How long does the Records Organising Day take?
We plan for a full working day — typically eight to nine hours, with breaks as the household needs them. Some households with very large accumulations may benefit from a follow-on session, which we discuss at the end of the day.
What is the difference between the Organising Day and the Cataloging Project?
The Organising Day focuses on physical sorting and filing — getting papers off surfaces and into a usable order. The Cataloging Project goes further: over four sessions, we build a written record of everything held in the household, organized by category, so you know precisely what exists and where it is. Many households do the Organising Day first, then move to the Cataloging Project.
Who is the Annual Maintenance Subscription for?
It suits households that have completed the Cataloging Project and want the system kept current — as new documents arrive, existing items move, or circumstances change. Each quarterly visit is brief; the bulk of the work was done in the earlier project. One subscription covers one household.
How do we get started?
Fill in the contact form below or call us directly. We will ask a few questions about the household and the scale of the records, then suggest the service that fits best. Sessions are scheduled at a time that suits you.
