Why Threadkin
What a dedicated service offers that a free afternoon does not.
Household records accumulate without ceremony. Bringing them to order takes more than good intentions — it takes method, materials, and someone who has done it before.
Back to HomeWhat working with Threadkin gives you
Six things a household gains from a structured organising session — and cannot easily replicate by working alone.
A second pair of trained eyes
Households often overlook documents they see every day. An outside organiser spots what is missing, duplicated, or misfiled — without the familiarity that makes things invisible.
A system, not just a sort
A single sorting session that produces no lasting structure is a session that has to be repeated. We build a labeled, categorised system designed to absorb new materials over time.
Right materials from the start
Acid-free folders and archival dividers cost more than standard stationery — but they matter for documents you intend to keep. We bring them to every session so the household does not have to source them.
A blocked-out commitment
Working alone, household records sessions are the first thing cancelled when something comes up. A booked session with an external team means the time is held and the work gets done.
A written record of the record
The summary note left at the end of every session documents what was sorted, how the system works, and what the household decided about specific items — useful long after the session is a memory.
Continuity across sessions
For households with the Maintenance Subscription, quarterly visits keep the system current — without requiring the household to restart or remember how everything was originally arranged.
A closer look at what we bring
Experience with Malaysian household records
The Threadkin team has worked with households across the Klang Valley since 2019 — encountering documents in Bahasa Malaysia, English, Mandarin, Tamil, and combinations of all four. We understand the categories that appear repeatedly in Malaysian households: land title documents, school leaving certificates, EPF correspondence, household registration records, and family photographs from different eras and formats.
- Multi-language document familiarity
- Experience across diverse Malaysian household types
- Background in archival and library science
A method that holds up over time
Our organising process begins with a triage — sorting into broad categories before refining into the final system. This prevents the common mistake of filing individual items before understanding the full shape of the collection. The session proceeds in a structured sequence, with the household making all decisions about categories and disposition along the way.
- Triage before filing — structure before detail
- Category system designed for future additions
- Session summary note left with the household
Service built around the household, not a schedule
Sessions run at the household's pace. If an elder wants to spend twenty minutes with a letter from 1974 before it is filed, that time is part of the session — not an interruption to it. We do not push through material; we work through it with you. Breaks are taken as needed, and the session ends when the household is satisfied, not when a clock runs out.
- No pressure, no rushing through meaningful items
- All decisions made by the household in real time
- Consistent team members across multi-session projects
Transparent pricing, no variable extras
Each service is priced as a complete package. The Records Organising Day at RM 540 includes all archival materials and the session summary. The Legacy Cataloging Project at RM 1,420 includes four sessions, all materials, a printed catalog book, and a follow-up note. The Annual Subscription at RM 2,780 covers four quarterly visits for one household. There are no travel surcharges within the Klang Valley and no separate charges for materials.
- Archival materials included in every service
- No hidden charges for the Klang Valley
- Clear scope for each service tier
Outcomes that households describe as lasting
The most common feedback we receive from households who have completed the Cataloging Project is that they return to the folder regularly — for administrative tasks, for family reference, for the comfort of knowing where things are. That is the measure we aim for: not a tidy-looking session, but a system the household uses in the months and years after we leave.
- Systems designed for long-term use
- Follow-up note three months after the Cataloging Project
- Optional ongoing maintenance for households that want it

What makes Threadkin distinct
Specific aspects of the service that are not part of what most organising or decluttering services offer.
A printed catalog as a deliverable
The Legacy Cataloging Project produces a physical printed catalog of the household's documents — organized by category, dated, and stored alongside the archival folder. It is a document in its own right, not just a side effect of the session.
A three-month follow-up note
After the final session of the Cataloging Project, we send a written note to the household three months later — checking in on how the system is working and noting any questions that may have come up in the intervening period.
In-home service only
We do not ask households to bring materials to us. All sessions take place in the household, with documents in the space where they naturally live. This reduces the risk of loss or damage during transport and allows the team to understand the household's existing organising context.
No digitisation, no copying
Unlike some organising services that offer scanning as an add-on, Threadkin does not photograph or copy documents. The household's papers remain physical, remain in the household, and remain the household's own — without creating additional copies that could be at risk.
